Methy l acetate, also known as MeOAc, acetic acid methyl ester or methyl ethanoate, is a carboxylate ester with the formula CH₃COOCH₃. It is a flammable liquid with a characteristically pleasant smell reminiscent of some glues and nail polish removers. Meth yl acetate is occasionally used as a solvent, being weakly polar and lipophilic, but its close relative et hyl acetate is a more common solvent being less toxic and less soluble in water. Met hyl acetate has a solubility of 25% in water at room temperature. At elevated temperature its solubility in water is much higher. Met h yl acetate is not stable in the presence of strong aqueous bases or aqueous acids. Meth yl acetate is not considered a VOC in the USA.

Product Application

1.Met hyl acetate is a fast drying solvent of nitroc ellulose and cellulose acetate, which is used in paints and coatings.

2. It is also used in the manufacture of artificial leather and spices and as an extractant of oil. 

3.It is also a raw material for making dyes .
 

4. In the experimental study, it is used as standard material and solvent for chromatographic analysis, and also used for the separation of lithium chloride from alkali metal chloride and the synthesis of spices.
