Levosulpiride is a left-handed enantiomer of the benzoamide derivative sulpiride, a dopamine D2 receptor specific antagonist with moderate 5-HT4 receptor agonist and weak 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Clinically, it is used as an antiemetic, anti-gastrointestinal dysfunction drug and anti-psychotropic drug. It is characterized by high selectivity and weak antagonism to dopamine D2 receptor, and low incidence of side effects of extrapyramidal reactions and movement disorders common in clinical use of similar drugs.
