Product Description
Sorbitol is white hygroscopic powder or crystalline powder, flake or granule, odorless. It can be used as a nutritional sweetener, wetting agent, chelating agent and stabilizer, which is suitable for the treatment of brain edema and glaucoma, and can also be used for edema oliguria with normal heart and kidney function. It is usually used as a sugar-free sweetener in food. Depending on the crystallization conditions, the melting point changes in the range of 88 ~ 102ºC, easily soluble in water (1g soluble in about 0.45mL water), slightly soluble in ethanol and acetic acid. It has a cool sweetness, about half the sweetness of sucrose, and the calorific value is similar to sucrose. In the food industry, 69-71% of the content of sorbitol liquid. Toxicity tests have shown that excessive administration of sorbitol can cause diarrhea and digestive disorders.
