Azodiisobutyronitrile can be prepared by aceton e, hydrazine hydrat e and hydrocyanic aci d or by oxidation of aceton e, hydrazine sulfate and sodium cyanid e.

Application

 

Used as an initiator for the polymerization of vinyl chlorid e, vinyl acetat e, acrylonitril e and other monomers, the dosage is 0.04% ~ 0.2%. It can also be used as a blowing agent for rubber and plastics such as polyvinyl chlorid e, polyurethane, polyvinyl alcohol, acrylonitril e and butadiene copolymers. It can also be used as a vulcanizing agent, pesticide and intermediate in organic synthesis
