Glyoxal is a compound obtained by gaseous phase catalytic oxidation of ethylene glycol and air. It is colorless or yellow and deliquable crystal or liquid with the formula C2H2O2.
Glyoxal soluble in ethanol, ether and water, active chemical properties, can be added to ammoni a, amide, aldehyde, carboxyl compounds or condensation reaction, mainly used in the textile industry, but also can be used in organic synthesis of raw materials and leather industry.
