Disodium ethylenediamin e tetraacetic acid, also known as EDTA, is a good compound in chemistry. Chemical formula C10H14N2Na2O8, molecular weight 336.206, it has six coordination atoms, the formation of the complex called chelate, EDTA is often used in coordination titration, generally to determine the content of metal ions. EDTA has important applications in dyes, food, medicine and other industries.
Edta disodium is odorless or salty white or milky white crystalline or granular powder, odorless and tasteless. It is soluble in water and extremely insoluble in ethanol. It is an important chelating agent that can chelate metal ions in solution. Prevent discoloration, deterioration, turbidity and oxidation loss of vitamin C caused by metal, and also improve the oxidation resistance of oil (trace metals in oil such as iron, copper, etc., can promote the oxidation of oil). In 1985, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified EDTA disodium as generally recognized as safe.
