Styrene (C8H8) is an organic compound formed by replacing one hydrogen atom of ethylene with styrene. The electrons of vinyl and benzene ring are conjugated, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, and gradually polymerized and oxidized when exposed to air. In industry, it is an important monomer of synthetic resin, ion exchange resin and synthetic rubber.
